Rory Stear, executive chairman of Freeplay Energy, has been honoured by Principal Voices as a world leader in energy efficiency and for promoting access to energy amongst the marginalised, reports

Principal Voices has for the past three years identified key international players who innovatively address major challenges facing the world. This year the issues of technology and innovation, alternative energy, and social entrepreneurs are being covered. Earlier this year, Freeplay Energy was one of just nine organisations to be recognised as a “Brand with a Conscience” by the high-level think tank on global branding, the Medinge Group. Freeplay Energy combines wind-up, solar and rechargeable energy to power a range of products, including radios, torches, lanterns and other illuminating devices, as well as stand-alone chargers for wireless and cell phones.
